Joe Murphy has been a career advisor since 1991. As an executive of Right
Management Consultants for ten years, the world’s largest Human Resource
Consulting firm, he coached managers and executives from most of Northern
California’s fortune 500 companies. His specialty is working with
executives who are facing major career changes or whose companies are
going through crisis. He has been in private practice for the past
five years. He also teaches at San Francisco State University and at the
University of Phoenix.
The common denominator in most of Joe’s clients is the necessity to
successfully deal with rapid change and the fear and anxiety that change
engenders. Joe has helped a wide range of executives, and artists,
transform themselves and develop innovative strategies to meet the threat
of new competition, face their internal struggles and creatively turn the
worst of times into the best of times.
Joe has consulted with people and companies in the oil and gas,
mortgage banking, manufacturing, direct mail, food, and software
industries. Because of his message, humor and interactive style, Joe is a
frequent speaker and consultant. He has presented at many retreats
and conferences including a national conference for Training Magazine that
led to the publishing of the book Installing Quality Circles, which
was published by University Associates in the 1980’s. Joe has many
other writing credits including a spiritual guide to career transitions.
Joe has lived in San Francisco with his wife, Cathy, since 1993. He
earned an MBA from the University of Colorado in 1976.
